These Kids are Cookin’ is a program of cooking classes that teach kids food safety, nutrition principles at Lynch Elementary School. These classes are free to fourth and fifth graders. Each class consists of 10 kids and lasts 90 minutes. They offer two sessions a year at each school with four classes per session.
Volunteers cover lessons each week in knife safety, nutrition, measurements and manners. They help our very eager students in cutting vegetables, cooking on a stove and assembling their meal. After the food is prepared, the kids enjoy eating what they have made. At the end of the session, each student leaves the class with a cookbook full of kid-friendly recipes for such things as our famous Fuzzy Caterpillars and Crunchy Chicken Tenders. All of the recipes that students have prepared in class are in the book!
